Google Introduces Real-Time Search for the Masses

Pulling from resources like news channels, blogs, Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook, Google’s new real-time search allows you to access the most current updates available for the topic you have queried.  Appearing on the first page of the results, the real-time feature scrolls slowly through available resources, pausing momentarily to allow you to see two to three results at a time. There is also a slide bar to the right that lets you control the scrolling up or down.  Pretty cool stuff…

Google first introduced real-time results back in June of last year with Google Finance which feeds stock quotes and financial news available from the world’s leading financial resources. Google has yet another tool, Google Trends, which is a lot like real-time search but instead of being based not on your particular search, it is based on user activity within the search engine.  Divided into two lists, “Hot Topics” and “Hot Searches”, you can read through what people are searching to either click to learn what they are learning or, in a broader sense, glean what is keeping the interests of the online population in the US.

On the Microsoft front, check out the Bing Twitter beta which presents real-time Twitter results, including new posts that have been shared within Twitter, for the term searched.
