Search engines scan and index text. The use of invisible text is an illegitimate, black hat search engine optimization technique meant to fool the search engine by placing search terms and phrases on a web page using text color that blends in with the background color, rendering the text invisible to the naked eye but scannable by the search engines. It is a false way of increasing keyword density.
