A must see for those who ask “what’s Twitter?”

Lately I have been really wrapped up with trying to aid clients in finding, and committing to, a “balance” in their marketing plans.

One that allows them to optimize what they should be doing in what today would be considered “traditional” web marketing, while educating (and motivating) them regarding the “newer”  venues available.

If you have been seeing what I have, most clients have no idea of their options in the social network marketing world, and when they begin to see it they get intimidated very quickly.

What may seem new now to many quickly becomes the norm, and it’s so important to make an educated decision as to where resources should be dedicated so you don’t “miss the party”.

Twitter cannot be ignored in it’s ability to network and its overall reach.  We are starting to see it everywhere and you now hear it referenced on TV and radio essentially replacing the “call-ins” hosts once received.

This video is a “must see”.

At the end of the day marketing should be fun!

For those who do it, and those who “get it” :)

StumbleUpon.com’s Discovery and Visibility Benefits

Recently I stumbled upon StumbleUpon.com. Membership is free and has its advantages. It is a combination of social networking and researching. Anyone (including you) with the ‘StumbleUpon’ toolbar installed can recommend a web page they like by clicking the ‘thumbs up’ button located in the toolbar at the upper left of their browser.  When you click on the ‘StumbleUpon’ button in the toolbar you’ll be brought to a page other people in the network thought was interesting. The pages delivered to you represent those receiving the most amount of ‘thumbs up’ clicks from viewers in your interest category. Stumble, unlike Google, is visual. You see a web page, which helps you to decide if you want to visit it.

Now, what would happen if one of YOUR web pages got stumbled?  Well, if lots of people give it the ‘thumbs up’, you can be seen by literally thousands of people in a single day.  You want to get “stumbled” so it’s a good idea to keep your web pages current, informative, engaging, and a pleasure to interact with.

Reach Your Audience through Social Websites

Regardless of whether you market to businesses or consumers, you are marketing to people. And people have interests outside of work. Millions of viewers, of all ages, spend hours on social websites like MySpace.com and YouTube.com.

That’s why advertisers are so willing to spend big bucks to be seen there. But why not be a participant? There are two simple ways you could accomplish this. First, create a profile on MySpace for your company. The Terms of Use state that the services “may be used for promotional purposes as well, but direct commercial endeavors may only be used if they are specifically endorsed or authorized by MySpace.” So don’t place an outright advertisement.

Instead create a profile as if your company were a person. Post pictures from events, golf outings, presentations, the Holiday Party, a volunteer service or cause event you organized or participated in, an awards ceremony etc. Demonstrate that you are more than a business, that you are a group of caring, intelligent people who participate in life.
